They still have a ways to go but it reminded me of my outing to the Second Marsh two years ago in search of those elusive Cyps.

If you get the chance, go for a walk along the Bob Mills Boardwalk at the end of this month. You will not be disappointed. Just look carefully in the woods along the boardwalk and you should see beauties such as this one:

The orchids are usually found in patches with anywhere from 1 to 10 plants. If you have never been before, finding the first ones can be a little tricky, but once you have found them, you'll realize they were in front of you the whole time.

Remember to bring your camera to capture this beauties on film (well... probably on your memory card), and don't forget your BUG SPRAY.

Parviflorum can be grown successfully in the garden. I have had some in mine for several years and they keep multiplying each spring. Find a fairly shady woodland type spot. Dig a big hole and fill it with Black Earth. Plant your Cyps and keep them moist (especially in the first season). With any luck you will get results like this:

A place to meet... In between meetings

Greetings DROS members. I had been AWOL from the club for a period of time (many of us orchidists go through these periods). But I'm back now and I thought that this might be a great way to keep in touch inbetween meetings (a virtual meeting room so to speak). I am going to put Anne and Rocco onto this site to get their opinion. If they like the idea then we'll pass it along the all of you.

I will spruce things up as I figure things out and we'll take it from there.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://durhamorchids.blogspot.com/2006/05/place-to-meet-in-between-meetings.html' title='A place to meet...
